The installation is based on the idea that ‘lines’ are not ‘forms’ as a result or solution, but rather ‘shapes’ as a discovery, process, creation or growth, and that the process of this is a ‘line.’ By observing and exploring these ‘lines,’ the research project attempts to visualise the origins of the ‘things’ and ‘events’ created by humans. Artist Ryosuke Harashima researched the chemical field from among the six segments of MITANI SANGYO Co., Ltd., and studied the ‘relationship’ between people and things called materials, processed goods, and waste. Harashima observed the processes that lead to the commercialisation of the products we see in everyday life, and the human relationships that gently connect one ‘thing’ to another became clearly visible as a flow of ‘lines.’ This time, he has visualised the overall structure by capturing these relationships, and is exhibiting the resulting models.
