時の余韻をトレースするTracing the Passing of the Time

　古道具に感じる「すさび」や「寂れ」は、その傷や深い質感、時間の経過によるものだと捉えている。それは意図的に作成することはできない生命感と優雅さをものに与えているようでもある。それを「時の余韻」として想像した時に形あるものとして表現する手法として、ちぎった和紙を対象の道具に重ね、表に浮かび上がる形として写しとった。 覆われた和紙を剥がすとまるで抜け殻のように感じたが、再びひとつの形へと戻すことで「時」を抽出した「余韻」であると思えるような存在になった。

A bowl using high-quality Japanese paper made from the bark. Inspired by the profound feeling and textures of old wood bowl which embody the Japanese concept “SABI”. The passage of time gives the artifacts life and elegance that can’t create with intentionaly. I traced the bowl by overlapping it with pieces of Japanese paper. After that, peeled parts of paper from the bowl. It were like fragment of abandoned but when it’s combined again into one, it represented a reverberation of life which is extracted from the original.
